New - If not exciting!

My favorite season of the year is coming, the Fall. I can't help but wonder where the summer went! Incidentally, I will be 60 years-old on September 22. (Where did 60 years go!) I am planning a birthday party that I think will be held on 25 September. Nothing big, just some friends over to celebrate my 60 years on the planet. This is my chance to get rid of some of that extra beer in the refrigerator downstairs. Keep your fingers crossed for some good weather, so we can set up a table outside and enjoy the backyard. This birthday also means I have two more years to be engaged in that up-and-down endeavor we call "work." I can feel my mindset shifting already!

I still miss our little dog, who went into the beyond on July 5. I still have occasional tears, and that's okay. Her surviving canine friend, Shadow, is doing better than I feared. He has been more needy than usual, and Jackie thinks he's afraid that one of us will "leave" like his little friend did. And you know what? That's certainly possible, although none of those concerned might wish it.

On the 14th of this month, I have an old friend from Connecticut coming down to visit us for a few days. I plan on taking an extra day off from work, and at this point, that sounds like a great idea. My friend is also a fraternity brother from the old days. I usually let him look through my music collection, and burn a few discs for him to take back to Connecticut.

I hope this summer has been enjoyable for you. For myself, I had a tough month in July and am ready to move on.

Until next time, be well.
